FLUMET is an ancient walled city, the historic capital of the Val d'Arly whose construction was between 1100 and 1200 whether the fort or castle walls, flanked by four towers. Aimon II, « Sire de Faucigny » (Region Geneva - Mont Blanc), resided in the castle part of the year: the political, strategic and economic causes led him to promote from 1202 the development of a small town . Which he granted its municipal franchises since 1228 FLUMET is the first joint of Savoy to have obtained such franchises which corresponded to a very real autonomy for the time: the right of succession to the citizens of FLUMET, use of pastures, rivers, woods and forests, exemption from tolls and size, right build kilns and mills. Unfortunately, in 1679, the castle and the town was devastated by a terrible fire. The city then obtained Christine de Savoie permission to demolish the fortress with stones to rebuild houses burned.

The origin of the name "FLUMET"
FLUMET comes from the Latin "inter flumina", which indicates a confluence of two rivers. This name refers to a 1200 built by Aimpn II to defend the passage at the confluence of the Arrondine and Arly fortress.
